IT technicians design, build and maintain the IT world around us. Yet right now there is no accreditation or standard that is ‘fit for purpose’ - the BCS Professional Registration for IT Technicians will change this. more
RITTech is for technicians who can show that they:
have a core understanding of IT
can demonstrate at least one specialist skill at SFIA level 3
have signed up to a professional code of conduct.
This is not a qualification - it is professional recognition of being able to do a technically skilled job in IT well. The level is equivalent to technician certifications in other professions.
Technicians in every role - software developers, testers, network analysts to name but a few - these people must get the recognition they deserve and enjoy a sense of pride and belonging for what they do, and do well. This is what we’re striving for. Delivering professional registration will do this, and reinforce the perception that IT is a compelling, varied and rewarding profession at every level.
Furthermore, RITTech greatly benefits employers and recruiters by identifying technicians with the right skills, relevant experience and professional ways of working - a simple shorthand to recognise both technical knowledge and competence in applying it, whatever their particular area of expertise.
